    6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls, regular security assessments, and secure data storage. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After account deletion, we may retain certain data for up to 5 years as required by Nigerian law or for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes. Anonymous, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

Gate-access scan logs. When a security guard at your estate uses the Mine Homes app to scan a vehicle plate at the gate, we record the plate text, the guard's decision (grant or deny), the reason for any denial, and (when the guard chooses to capture one) a photo of the vehicle. These records are retained for up to 365 days for security audit and dispute resolution, then permanently deleted. Image bytes are stored in a private encrypted bucket and follow the same 365-day clock. This retention period is set in accordance with Section 24 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, which requires that personal data not be kept longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Under the NDPR, you have the right to:

    • Access the personal data we hold about you
    • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
    • Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
    • Object to or restrict certain processing activities
    • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
    • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@mine-homes.com.

    9. Children's Privacy

Our Platform is not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

    10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside Nigeria where our service providers are located. We ensure that such transfers comply with NDPR requirements through appropriate safeguards including data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses.

    11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on our Platform and, where appropriate, sending you a notification. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
